From Left to Right: Craig Carter, Chris Pahlow, Clayton Jacobson

This week Clay and Chris are joined by award winning sound designer, editor, and recordist Craig Carter, to chat about the importance of sound in film and how to get your start in the sound department. Craig has been in the industry for over thirty years, and has worked on more than 100 productions, including Rabbit Proof Fence, Kenny, Rogue, Babe 2, The Slap mini-series, and most recently Tony Ayre's new feature Cut Snake (which is currently screening at SXSW).

We hope you enjoy this week\s episode, stay turned for our next episode with Deb Fryers, a publicist and producer who currently runs her own firm Deb Fryers Entertainment.

Points of Discussion:

  • Does good sound need to be expensive?

  • Collaborating with the Director and the other crew.

  • Separation and overlap between different sound department roles.

  • Working with musicians and composers
